This issue of Abstract Digest comes to you at a time when the global nutrition research community is actively looking for ways to address malnutrition in the changing context of COVID-19 pandemic. The articles in this issue include a modelling study by Roberton and colleagues on early estimates of the indirect effects of COVID-19 pandemic on maternal and child mortality in low-income and middle-income countries, and comments on it.
In addition, from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2000–17, India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative CGF Collaborators and India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative Child Mortality Collaborators have presented subnational analyses of child undernutrition and mortality trends in India. The other India-specific studies examine the patterns of wasting and stunting by month of measurement, and the evidence on the use of India’s Integrated Child Development Services program among beneficiaries.
