This issue of Abstract Digest comes to you at an unprecedented time of COVID-19 pandemic. We hope all of you are healthy and safe. In the current issue, Naja and Hamadeh present a framework for action at multiple levels to maintain optimal nutrition during COVID-19, at the individual, community, national and global levels. Along with it, this issue has a collection of articles on various outcomes, determinants and interventions related to maternal and child nutrition.

There are articles and related correspondence from a special issue of Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences on the topic of micronutrient supplementation. There are articles from the March issue of EClinicalMedicine, published by The Lancet, that focus on the subject of women’s empowerment in the context of addressing malnutrition. This issue also includes a WHO–UNICEF–Lancet Commission that presents the case for placing children, aged 0–18 years, at the centre of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the key findings of the 2020 edition of the Joint Child Malnutrition Estimates, by UNICEF-WHO-World Bank.
