Upcoming event on gender and nutrition on Dec 10, 2018

Research shows that women’s and girls’ wellbeing lies at the core of India’s nutritional challenge. Researchers, development partners, and policy makers will discuss the evidence on different aspects of women’s and girl’s wellbeing that are critical for India’s nutritional challenge at an event organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, EPoD India at IFMR, Naandi Foundation and UNICEF, on December 10, 2018, in New Delhi. This event, “What Lies Beneath: Women’s and Girls’ Wellbeing as a Critical Underpinning of India’s Nutritional Challenge,” will look closely at some of the interventions to improve women’s and girls’ wellbeing, both globally and specifically in India.

Evidence on interventions related to improving wellbeing of women in agriculture and rural development will be presented, alongside women’s group platforms and pathways to improved nutrition. Evidence review on strategies to address girls’ educational attainment, early marriage and other empowerment outcomes in India will also be shared. Based on the current evidence on the lives and aspirations of adolescents in India, ways to move forward will be deliberated that can reshape the world for India’s girls and women. As research shows, this is a key priority in realizing the vision of a healthier and malnutrition-free India.
