Madhya Pradesh is situated in central India and comprises 51 districts. It is the second largest state in India with an area of 308,000 square kilometers. It has a population of 72.6 million people (Madhya Pradesh State Government 2017). The state has 27.6 percent of its population living in urban areas, and 70.6 percent of its residents are literate (Census of India 2011).
